What are the special and key fortification buildings?
Buildings shall be divided into four seismic fortification categories, namely, special fortification category, key fortification category, standard fortification category and moderate fortification category, according to the importance of their use functions.

What does earthquake engineering include?
Seismic hazard analysis and seismic zoning: earthquake hazard prediction, seismic regional intensity division, seismic hazard analysis, urban seismic planning, rescue and relief measures, post earthquake recovery and reconstruction, etc. 2. Seismic technology of building structures: ensure the seismic safety of various industrial and civil buildings, lifeline engineering (water supply, power supply, gas, heating, communication, radio and television, roads, bridges, railways, airports, ports, grain warehouses, emergency hospitals, etc.) related engineering structures, various important buildings or important engineering structures, including the transformation or improvement of old buildings with insufficient seismic resistance, It also includes the seismic design and construction of new building structures.

Traditional buildings are always "hard pressed" to cope with over fortification earthquakes? What is an over - fortified earthquake?
Overfortification does not occur only in the event of a large earthquake (the fortification areas of 6 and 7 degrees in our country account for 82% of the land area). Taking a relatively small earthquake as an example, at 22:55 on June 17, 2019, the Changning earthquake in Yibin, Sichuan, had a magnitude of 6.0, an epicenter intensity of 8 degrees, and the local fortification was 6 degrees, 8-6=2>0, which is also an over fortification earthquake;

Which floor of a traditional building is the safest in an earthquake?
Some people say it is a low floor. The reason given is that it is easy to escape because the floor is low. Is that true? (In a real earthquake, you may be sleeping, or the earthquake makes people "drunk" and can't run.) The answer is, of course, wrong! The above figure below shows that when the Taiwan Hualian earthquake occurred, the strong earthquake caused the damage to the columns on the first and second floors of the hotel near the park road. The building collapsed instantly, and the third floor became the first floor. The tenants on the fifth floor were stunned.

What is a super earthquake
Tangshan earthquake, Wenchuan earthquake, Yushu earthquake, Ya'an earthquake and other well-known earthquakes in China are all over fortified earthquakes. Take Wenchuan as an example: Before the Wenchuan earthquake, the fortification was 7 degrees equivalent to a magnitude 5 earthquake at the epicenter, while a magnitude 8 earthquake with a destructive degree of 11 degrees occurred. Each magnitude difference is about 31.6 times, which means that the earthquake energy level acting on Wenchuan is more than 30000 times that of our fortification!
